ADSL2+ Upgrade Information for Existing Netspace Broadband Customers

Netspace Customers Please Note
ADSL2+ availability check and upgrade ordering is available via MyNetspace. Unfortunately we are unable to accept upgrade orders by telephone.

Important Information to Consider

Upgrade without downtime

Fast Churn is available wherever Netspace has ADSL2+ coverage. Fast Churn allows customers to upgrade from ADSL to ADSL2+ with typically only a few moments downtime.

By doing the availability check in the ‘Upgrade/Downgrade Your Plan’ form in MyNetspace you will be able to confirm that Fast Churn is available before needing to commit to an upgrade.

Downtime during the upgrade process

Some Netspace customers will experience downtime when upgrading to an ADSL2+ plan. This will depend on whether Fast Churn is available or not.

In areas where an upgrade from ADSL to ADSL2+ can be performed using Fast Churn you will experience typically only a few moments downtime.

In areas where an upgrade from ADSL to ADSL2+ cannot be performed using Fast Churn we need to disconnect your ADSL service before connecting ADSL2+. This typically takes 10 – 14 working days. During this time you may use your existing Netspace account for Netspace Dial up internet access.

ADSL modem

To achieve the increased speed offered by ADSL2+ you must use an ADSL2+ compatible modem.

ADSL2+ connection speed

The maximum connection speed achievable on ADSL2+ varies depending on many factors including distance from the exchange, line quality and length, interference, network configuration, traffic and equipment. To get an indication of physical connection speeds typically achievable with ADSL2+. Please see the What is ADSL2+ FAQ for more details.

Upgrade orders

Do not disconnect your ADSL service before requesting an upgrade to ADSL2+. This will result in unnecessary downtime and may require reconnection of your ADSL service in event that ADSL2+ is not available.

How do I order an upgrade to ADSL2+?

Check availability and submit an upgrade request via the ‘Upgrade/Downgrade Your Plan’ link in the ‘My Plan’ section of MyNetspace. Please note that upgrade requests can only be performed online via MyNetspace.

How does the upgrade process work and how long does it take?

You can submit an upgrade request via the ‘Upgrade/Downgrade Your Plan’ form in MyNetspace. We will first check if ADSL2+ is available in your area. If it is, select your desired ADSL2+ plan and submit your upgrade order.

In most cases you can select an immediate plan change or a scheduled plan change – if submitted more than 10 days prior to your anniversary date your upgrade will coincide with your next anniversary date.

Where Fast Churn is available it usually takes about 14 working days to process an ADSL2+ upgrade after which time you will be switched from ADSL to ADSL2+ with typically little or no downtime.

In the unlikely event that Fast Churn is not available your ADSL will be disconnected and it will typically take 14 working days for your ADSL2+ service to be connected. During this time you may use your existing Netspace account for Netspace Dial up internet access. You will retain the primary and any additional email mailboxes associated with your account.

We will notify you when your ADSL2+ service is ready. If you have any questions please email sales@netspace.net.au
